BOSTON, November 5, 2010 — Carbonite
Inc., a leading provider of online
backup, was selected as the Private
Company of the Year by Massachusetts
Technology Leadership Council (MassTLC).
Carbonite was honored with this
achievement at the Council's 13th annual
Awards Gala Nov. 3 at Boston's Seaport
Hotel.
"Our team is flattered to be named
the 2010 MassTLC Private Company of the
Year," said David Friend, co-founder and
CEO of Carbonite. "We're honored to have
been selected from such an accomplished
group of nominees. Our whole team is
proud of this accomplishment and we all
look forward to driving the technology
revolution in Massachusetts."
Close to 500 senior executives filled
the waterfront hotel's ballroom for the
event, which this year showcased the
state's evolving technology landscape,
as energy and robotics companies joined
more traditional categories such as
software and network communications in
the winners' circle.

Hopcroft, President and CEO of MassTLC.

market leadership is testimony to the
vibrancy we find across the industry as
the tech sector continues to lead the
state's economy out of the recession."
MassTLC also bestowed special honors
on four individuals for their special
leadership in the Massachusetts
technology community. Those awardees

Dr. George Hatsopoulos, entrepreneur,
educator and founder of Thermo Electron
Policy Leader of the Year:
Greg Bialecki, Secretary of Housing and
Economic Development for the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Workforce Development Leader:
Dr. Jack Wilson, President of the
University of Massachusetts
Innovation Catalyst:
Tim Rowe, CEO of the Cambridge
Innovation Center

local thought-leaders and media were
involved with the selection process for
the nominees and, in most cases, chose
the winners in each category (Product of
the Year was chosen by the audience
members in a live vote during the
